Pumpkins, reiki, and fun with somatic yoga 🎃🙏🏻🧘🏻‍♀️

Hello Reader,

Work.

Family.

Festive activities.

With all these incredible things filling your calendar, it’s easy to feel like there’s little time left to pause and check in with yourself. But what if this November, you committed to creating moments of stillness and emotional release — right from your own home?

That’s where somatic yoga comes in.

Somatic yoga is a gentle, mindful practice that focuses on connecting with your body’s sensations and releasing tension held deep in your muscles. Unlike traditional yoga, it’s not about how the poses look, but how they feel, making it a powerful tool for emotional release, relaxation, and overall well-being.

This month’s On The Mat practice is all about how to incorporate this mode of relaxation and restoration into your daily routine. If you’re like me, and you’re looking for a bit of stillness in the midst of life’s chaos, read on!

On the Mat

Somatic Yoga for Emotional Release

As the holiday season begins, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the busyness and constant demands. That’s why this November, I’m inviting you to take time for pause and silence.

This 30-day morning practice is a gentle somatic yoga routine I’ve been incorporating into my own mornings — before coffee, before the world wakes up, and even before bed.

The requirements? Wake up just 20 minutes earlier than usual to enjoy a quiet space for yourself.

Set up your mat, grab a cushion, and let’s begin with 11 minutes of yoga that’s more like a yoga snack — simple and easy, yet powerfully restorative.

With poses like shoulder shrugs, seated shoulder twists, and spinal flexes, accompanied by upbeat music, this practice will help you release built-up emotions and connect with your inner being.

Afterward, enjoy a warm beverage and reflect on the experience with your gratitude journal. If you don’t have the journal yet, you can CLICK HERE to get yours today.

Let’s commit together to this simple, joyful practice that brings us peace, even during the busiest season.

Off the Mat

One of the best parts of my work as a yoga practitioner is the opportunity to help my clients not only connect with their bodies but also deepen their mindfulness and create ease and flow across all aspects of their lives.

And because I always want to make sure I’m bringing my best to the mat (yours and mine), I’m excited to share that I’ve added a reiki sound healing certification to my repertoire! Incorporating sound, vibrations, and guided meditation into my work has led to truly transformative experiences for my clients.

You may be thinking, Reiki? Is that some sort of garden tool?

Based on the principle that we’re surrounded by energy and vibrations, reiki sound healing is a practice used to bring you into a meditative state so you can relax and create deep healing within your body.

Sound is an important part of every yoga practice, which is why I’ve incorporated it into this month’s Somatic Yoga Practice and my own get-up-and-go morning routine.

Not only am I busy planning for 2025 (more retreats, resources, and routines are coming your way!), I’ve been enjoying time with my family for our annual weekend visit to the pumpkin farm, followed by an evening of pumpkin carving, good food, and incredible time spent together. It’s a tradition I love honoring every year!

Hi Reader, Let’s talk about one of my favorite restorative poses of all time: Viparita Karani — Elevated Legs Up the Wall You don’t need to be a seasoned yogi to practice this pose. You don’t even need a mat.Just a wall (or a chair, or a bench) and a few quiet minutes. It’s not just one pose — it’s four restful shapes in one. That’s right — four. ✨ Butterfly Pose — soles of the feet together, knees wide✨ Wide-Leg Forward Fold — legs open in a relaxed “V”✨ Reverse Child’s Pose — hug your knees...

Hi Reader, The Summer Solstice marked the longest day of light — a time of fullness, fire, and outward bloom. But let’s be honest: with the light comes a lot. More plans. More people. More to manage. If you’ve ever felt overstimulated by summer — the social invites, the heat, the endless decisions — you’re not alone. That’s why I created our latest Still Point Sanctuary session: “Steady Through the Solstice: Energy, Ease & Sacred Summer Rituals.” And today, I’m sharing a small piece of it...

Dear Reader, At the end of May, I packed my car, said goodbye to my to-do list, and set off for something I hadn't planned, researched, or even fully understood — a women’s retreat at a place called Light on the Hill. I signed up back in January without hesitation. A dear friend asked, and I said yes before I even looked at the retreat details. You know those moments when something just feels right? That was this. No passport. No airports. No detailed itinerary.Just a peaceful drive through...
