Dear Reader,
At the end of May, I packed my car, said goodbye to my to-do list, and set off for something I hadn't planned, researched, or even fully understood — a women’s retreat at a place called Light on the Hill.
I signed up back in January without hesitation. A dear friend asked, and I said yes before I even looked at the retreat details. You know those moments when something just feels right? That was this.
No passport. No airports. No detailed itinerary.
Just a peaceful drive through country roads, a cozy sleepover at my friend’s house the night before, and a few days of being completely held by something larger than myself — community, nature, rest.
And I want to share it with you, because it reminded me of everything I believe in.
I didn’t read the retreat schedule in advance. I wanted to be surprised. I left my expectations at the door and opened myself up to every activity — even when it felt a little outside my comfort zone.
✨ Forest bathing in silence among the trees
✨ Sound baths each night (for once, I got to receive instead of guide)
✨ Drumming circles full of laughter, rhythm, and shared energy
✨ Journey Dance — yes, scarves and all! Moving freely, improvising, expressing the soul through motion
✨ Gentle yoga, morning and evening
✨ Circle conversations where strangers became sisters
✨ A room of my own — quiet, private, restorative
It was deeply nourishing. Not because I did something “productive,” but because I let myself be undone in the best way.
This wasn’t a break from life — it was a return to myself.
A retreat isn't like planning a vacation. You don’t need to map it out or orchestrate every hour. You simply show up. Someone else is holding the container. And within that, the unexpected happens — joy, insight, healing, tears, laughter, and sometimes, a new layer of yourself you didn’t know needed tending.
You may cry with a stranger, laugh like you're back in a college dorm, hug a tree, dance with scarves, or sit silently in meditation wondering why you're so emotional. And then — you breathe. You settle. You remember who you are.
This is what we do together — in every Still Point Sanctuary session, in every private practice, and in every gentle ritual you bring into your day.
You show up — and we meet whatever’s there.
You don’t need to know the plan.
You just need to trust yourself enough to step into it.
And when the weekend is over, you’ll think back on it with a smile, realizing how much was revealed by simply being present.
Would you be ready to retreat with me here?
I’ll leave you with this invitation:
Next time an opportunity arises — even one that makes you think “am I really going to do that?” —
Say yes.
Show up.
Do it all, especially the parts that feel silly, new, or uncertain.
That’s where the transformation lives.
With deep gratitude for this journey we’re on together,
Sarah
