The beginning of summer always feels like a deep inhale — a pause before the fullness of the season settles in.

This month, I’m doing a lot of quiet tending: to my garden, to my business, to the ideas that have been blooming behind the scenes. While there aren’t any big events on my calendar just yet, I’m preparing something special for you — and for myself. Because even when we’re not “doing” as much, we’re still becoming something new.

This is the energy I’m bringing into June: quiet movement, intentional breath, and the kind of care that begins from within.

On the Mat

Whether you're planting herbs, carrying totes from the farmers market, lugging bags around for soccer camp, or simply spending more time outdoors, summer has a way of creeping into our backs and shoulders (and not in a beautiful kissed-by-the-sun kind of way).

This month, I’m focusing on my own practice — and the sequences I’m building for clients — around releasing and rebuilding in that upper body space. Gentle strengthening and deep stretching help counteract all the bending, lifting, driving, and scrolling we tend to accumulate.

Try this:

  1. A few rounds of Cat-Cow to warm the spine
  2. Thread-the-Needle to rinse out the upper back
  3. Supported Bridge Pose with a block to release the shoulders
  4. Finish in Reclined Bound Angle with a folded blanket under your spine

A few minutes can make a big difference. Your spine and your nervous system will thank you.

Flower Fridays are Back

I’ve restarted one of my favorite summer rituals: my Friday Flower Walks, shared on Instagram. The flower farms near me aren’t all in full bloom just yet, but there’s beauty to be found in every stage.

Mentorship with a Master

This spring, I started a year-long mentorship with Judith Hanson Lasater, a true pioneer in the field of restorative yoga (and co-founder of Yoga Journal, no less).

At 80 years old, Judith still brings immense wisdom, clarity, and presence to her teaching. Our cohort meets monthly for continuing education, practices, and deep guidance around facilitating safe, sustainable rest.

It feels deeply nourishing to be in the seat of the student again — receiving, reflecting, and expanding my work in new ways.

What I’m Reading

I read Breath: Wake Up to Life by Prem Rawat once and immediately knew I’d return to it again. It’s one of those timeless reads — grounding, simple, and unexpectedly profound. It reminds me that no matter what’s on the to-do list, everything begins (and ends) with the breath.

Here’s a quote that really stood out to me: “The Divine sign is literally under your very nose. So long as this breath comes into you, you have the power to do what you need to do. That is your sign!”
