Yoga Isn’t What You Think

This Week Off the Mat

Let’s clear something up.

Yoga was never about touching your toes.
It was never about the “full expression.”
And it was never about getting it right.

Somewhere along the way, it turned into performance.

Women come to me thinking…

They’re not flexible enough…

They’re behind…

They’re doing it wrong…

The yoga industry has been selling you performance.

Perfect lines.
Full expressions.
Flexibility as proof of worth.

And quietly, women internalized it.

“If I can’t do the full pose, I’m behind.”
“If I need support, I’m modifying.”
“If I’m tight, I’m failing.”

No.

That’s not yoga.

That’s conditioning.

Nervous System Note

Here’s what yoga actually is:

Yoga is the practice of not abandoning yourself.

That’s it.

It’s noticing when your body tightens.
When your breath shortens.
When you override yourself to keep up.

And choosing not to force.

Flexibility is not progress.
Endurance is not awareness.
Looking calm is not the same as being regulated.

Here is what I do:

I help women rebuild trust with their body.

Through restorative yoga.
Through nervous system education.
Through energy work and sound healing.

Slowly.
Without pressure.

Here is what you want:

To feel steady.
To stop pushing.
To feel safe in your own body.
To stop performing wellness and actually experience it.

Here is how I help you:

We remove the rules.
We remove the urgency.
We meet your body where it is not where you think it should be.
We build rhythm instead of intensity.

That’s the work.

Your Pause Practice

This week, don’t overcomplicate it.

Tomorrow morning before your phone, before your coffee:

1 - Set a timer for 3 minutes.

2 - Open your journal.

3 - Write without stopping.

Start with:

Right now, my body is asking for ___.

Or:

If I stopped performing and told the truth, I would say ___.

Don’t edit.
Don’t refine.
When the timer ends, close the journal.

Go back to your day.

There are a thousand journaling methods.

Instead of searching for the “right one” just begin.

Yoga isn’t about getting it right.

It’s about learning how to stay with yourself.

I work with women who are doing it all and feel the quiet exhaustion of always holding it together. Through alignment-based, restorative, and somatic yoga combined with energy work and sound healing I help you rebuild nervous system safety and self-trust.

This Week Off the Mat I joined my pottery class one week late. I didn’t even know about it until after the first session.I could have said, “Oh well. I missed it.” Instead, something inside me said, really? So what. It’s pottery. It’s art. It’s for fun. And even if it weren't, would missing one class stop me from beginning? No. What struck me most wasn’t the clay. It was being a beginner again. Not knowing where to put my coat.Where my bag went. How the wheel worked. What tools to gather. There...

Hello Reader, This week I have been talking about believing in yourself.About stopping the explaining.About trusting your own authority. Sometimes believing in yourself looks like this: Not saying yes. Not rescheduling your hair appointment. Not canceling your yoga class. Not squeezing in one more thing. Sound familiar? “Yes, I can do that.”“Yes, give me ten minutes.”“Yes, I’ll be right there.” Those yeses add up. Overwhelm.Stress.Resentment. Supporting the people we love matters. But we have to...

Hi Reader, I love an unpopular opinion especially when it goes against the norms of your own industry. So here’s one of mine. You’ve probably heard people say that support, rest, or care has to be something you “figure out on your own.” Here’s my hot take: I don’t think that’s true. I don’t think we’re meant to stumble into support by accident. And I don’t think it should feel like luck when we finally find someone who helps us slow down, breathe, and feel steady again. What does matter is...
