What If January Started Gently?

Hi Reader,

As we step into January, I want to say something that may feel a little different:

This month doesn’t need big promises.

January doesn’t have to be about breaking out, pushing forward, or setting over-the-top intentions. For me, it’s always been a quieter threshold, a time to slow down, listen, and gently reflect on the past twelve months.

Not all in one day.
Not with urgency.
But slowly, with space.

This is a season of easing in.

Instead of asking what you’re going to fix, improve, or push harder this year, I want to ask you something else:

How do you want to feel as you move through this next season?

Not on your best days.
Not when everything is flowing.
But on the regular days.
The tired days.
The in-between days.

So many women begin the year by adding more structure, more discipline, more “I should.”

What if this year started softer?

What if the first commitment you made was to pause before pushing…
to listen before deciding…
to notice your body instead of overriding it?

Maybe that looks like one quiet breath before opening your laptop.
Maybe it’s standing up and stretching between meetings.
Maybe it’s closing your eyes for a minute instead of scrolling.

Nothing dramatic.
Nothing performative.

Just small moments of coming back to yourself.

🌿 A Gentle Practice I’m Beginning This January

As part of my own reflection, I’ve begun two Kundalini kriyas practices traditionally done for 40 days. But during an early morning walk, it felt clear to approach this in a more spacious way.

So I’m opening this as a 4-day entry point, with the option to continue gently if it feels supportive.

The two kriyas I’m practicing are:

  • Kriya for a Calm and Open Heart to anchor in the calm quiet “home” of the heart space
    WATCH IT HERE
  • Sahibi Kriya a grounding practice to strengthen the core and cultivate steadiness
    WATCH IT HERE

These are simple kriyas, accessible practices you can do in a small pocket of time during your day. I’m sharing the YouTube links to both so you can explore them at your own pace and see what resonates.

There’s no requirement to be perfect.
Skipping a day is okay.
Starting again is okay.
Beginning exactly where you are is more than enough.

Join Me (Only If It Feels Right)

If you’d like a little support and community, I’m creating a WhatsApp group for those who want to explore these practices together over 40 days gently, intuitively, and without pressure.

Think of it as:

  • a place to check in
  • a reminder to pause
  • encouragement, not accountability
  • shared presence, not performance

If you’d like to join, simply reply to this email and let me know. I’ll send you the WhatsApp details.

Think less.
Keep it simple.
Join when you feel called.
Pause when you need to.

You don’t need a new version of yourself today.
You’re allowed to begin this year exactly where you are.

With care,
Sarah

This Week Off the Mat I joined my pottery class one week late. I didn’t even know about it until after the first session.I could have said, “Oh well. I missed it.” Instead, something inside me said, really? So what. It’s pottery. It’s art. It’s for fun. And even if it weren't, would missing one class stop me from beginning? No. What struck me most wasn’t the clay. It was being a beginner again. Not knowing where to put my coat.Where my bag went. How the wheel worked. What tools to gather. There...

Hello Reader, This week I have been talking about believing in yourself.About stopping the explaining.About trusting your own authority. Sometimes believing in yourself looks like this: Not saying yes. Not rescheduling your hair appointment. Not canceling your yoga class. Not squeezing in one more thing. Sound familiar? “Yes, I can do that.”“Yes, give me ten minutes.”“Yes, I’ll be right there.” Those yeses add up. Overwhelm.Stress.Resentment. Supporting the people we love matters. But we have to...

Hi Reader, I love an unpopular opinion especially when it goes against the norms of your own industry. So here’s one of mine. You’ve probably heard people say that support, rest, or care has to be something you “figure out on your own.” Here’s my hot take: I don’t think that’s true. I don’t think we’re meant to stumble into support by accident. And I don’t think it should feel like luck when we finally find someone who helps us slow down, breathe, and feel steady again. What does matter is...
